About the Artist
Nancy Arons began painting when she retired in 2006 from a psychotherapy practice and painting became her passion-the luscious oil paints, painting en plein air and in her studio, the creative process, the critiques from elite teachers and the camaraderie of other artists who share the same passion and commitment to learning a craft as artists have done through the ages.
Nancy holds a BA from Syracuse University, an MA in Dance from Columbia Teachers College and and MSW from Catholic University. Her dance and psychotherapy education has influenced and informed the physical and emotional aspects of her work. For her, painting is a way to express and personalize nature to create a harmonious whole not unlike being a therapist and helping clients to organize and understand their lives.
She has been juried into many shows and had a solo show at the Bethesda Library. She was recently in a show at Gallery B curated by DC Gallery NK. She has served for five years on the board of the Yellow Barn, an art school at Glen Echo Park, Maryland.
While her work is somewhat representational, she tries to capture the feeling and essence of a view, focusing on color, light and shapes that appear in nature.
Nancy was born and raised in New York and has lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland for the last forty years.
